Friends Of The Baxter County Library Scholarship

  • Due: April 1, 2017
  • Must have a minimum GPA of 2.5
  • Must include 1500-2000 word essay written about the required topic: Discuss how reading aloud to children impacts early childhood development and learning.
  • Must include a cover letter with a summary of your achievements and your academic/career goals.
  • Must include your academic resume

Janice M. Scott Memorial Scholarship

  • Due: March 31, 2017
  • Award: Varies
  • Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Must be attending college full-time at a US accredited four-year college or university within the United States.
  • You must complete a 500-1000 word essay focusing on “describing your planned undergraduate study and how you plan to apply it upon graduation” or “who is your role-model and how has he/she influenced/impacted your life.” (the individual cannot be a relative) Essay is to be written in 11 point font, double spaced, using 1 inch margins on all sides, and original.  You MUST certify authorship/originality at the end of the essay.  The essay will be evaluated on originality, content, thought provoking ideas, innovation, and concepts previously unpublished.  You must certify the authenticity of the writing at the end of the essay by including the statement “I certify that I personally wrote this essay” and signing underneath.
  • Supporting documents also need to be sent with the application and essay, and include: your parent/guardian’s most recent tax form 1040, official transcript, and a high school senior picture (picture is to be from the waist up, printed on photo paper, and not taken from an angle.  For a full list of criteria and supporting documents, click here.



Baxter County Sheriff’s Foundation Employee Children and Grandchildren Scholarship

  • Due: March 31, 2017
  • Award: Varies
  • Applicant must be a child or grandchild of a Baxter County Sheriff’s Office employee who has been an employee in good standing for at least 1 year.
  • Consideration will be given to those applicants who demonstrate a desire to further their education, and have a financial need.
  • To apply, complete the application found above, and return it to Mrs. Ivens by March 31st.



The Society of American Military Engineers Scholarship

  • Due: April 7, 2017​
  • Award: 2 $2,000 awards available
  • Must prove application to a 4-5 year accredited architectural or engineering curriculum, or to a college with a cooperative program to transfer credits to such a school.
  • Must have a letter of recommendation from a math or science teacher, and another letter of recommendation from a different teacher of your choosing.  You may also to include a letter of recommendation from an employer, principal, or other non-family member, but this is not required.
  • Must include an essay, not to exceed 200 words, explaining why you wish to study architecture or construction-related engineering, and why receiving this scholarship is critical to achieving your educational goals.

Mountain Home BPW Scholarship

  • This application has several scholarship opportunities, so please look carefully at each option.  You may only apply for 1 scholarship per application, but you may submit numerous applications.

Cotter Booster Club Scholarship

  • Due: April 18, 2017
  • Award: $500
  • Scholarship is based solely on financial need and merit.  When considered, applications will be numbered, and names removed to provide fair judgment.
  • To apply, complete the application provided in the link above, and write an essay (not just a few sentences, an ESSAY) on how extracurricular activities have enriched your school experience and shaped your decisions on your college degree, or career choice.
  • Application and essay need to be turned in to Miss Cantrell on or before April 18, 2017.



The Rotary Club of Mountain Home Scholarship

  • Due: April 1, 2017
  • Award: Varies, $6,000 available
  • Immediate family members of rotary members are ineligible.
  • Award determination will be based on need, with consideration given to academic achievement, participation in the community, and future leadership potential.
  • Include 3 letters of reference from a non-family member that you have known at least 2 years, a letter from yourself stating why you should be selected to receive this scholarship, and the tax form 1040 from the most recent tax return of the person that claims you as a dependent.

The Robert J. Stewart Scholarship Fund

  • Due: April 15, 2017
  • Award: Award is given based on donor discretion
  • Scholarship will not be awarded strictly based on academic performance.  The donor wished to help students with a desire to pursue further education in an effort to better him or herself.
  • Must provide 3 letters of reference from non-family members. (counselor, teacher, pastor, employer)
  • Include a copy of your high school transcript, and proof of admission to college, if applicable.

The William H. Thompson Educational Scholarship

  • Due: April 15, 2017
  • Award: Number and amount of scholarships will be determined by the Trustee
  • Scholarship will be used for students who will be attending a vocational-Technical School or Trade School
  • Scholarship will be awarded based on financial need.  Financial need will be determined by you providing a copy of your, and your parent’s form 1040 from the most recent Federal Income Tax Return.
  • Must include 2 character reference letters submitted by a teacher or counselor.

The Arkansas Association of Student Aid Administrators 17-18 Scholarship 

  • Award: $500
  • Due: April 1, 2017
  • Must be planning on attending an AASFAA institution. ( List of those institutions can be found after registering on the website in the link above,
  • Winners will be chosen at random during the AASFA Spring Conference.



The Cotter Warrior Foundation Scholarship, Reeves Memorial Scholarship, Sam Roth Memorial Scholarship

  • Due March 31, 2017
  • Award: selection of recipients, and amount of awards will be determined at the sole discretion of The Cotter Warrior Foundation.
  • Awards will be based on academic achievement (measured by high school GPA and ACT or COMPASS scores), character (demonstrated by completing the signed application which provides information about yourself and the need for the scholarship, and 2 letters of reference from persons other than family members or directors of The Cotter Warrior Foundation, and the application being complete.
  • Must have a minimum GPA of 2.5, AND an ACT composite score of 20 or a COMPASS score appropriate for your chosen field of study.
  • The following documents must be sent in order for your application to be considered complete: current official high school transcript and ACT or SAT scores (make sure that you have these sealed with the Cotter High School seal by Mrs. Thornton or Mrs. Ivens), 2 signed character reference letters by persons other than family members or directors of The Cotter Warrior Foundation, and the completed SIGNED application.

Cotter-Gassville Chamber of Commerce Scholarship

  • Due March 31, 2017
  • Award: $500
  • Must have a GPA of at least 3.0
  • Scholarships will be awarded based on financial need and merit, but academic achievement, extra-curricular activities and community involvement will also be considered.
  • Return application, and supporting documents ( transcript, test scores, and tax return) to Cotter-Gassville Chamber of Commerce, P.O.. Box 489 Cotter, AR 72626. 



North Arkansas Electric Trust/Operation Round Up Scholarship Program

  • Due April 14, 2017
  • Award: multiple awards ranging from $500-$1000
  • Parents must be a member of the NAEC Co-Op
  • Must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • To apply, complete the application located in the link above, and submit with your transcript, and 3 letters of recommendation.  APPLICATION MUST BE TYPED.
  • Selection is based on scholastic achievement, school involvement, community involvement, and financial need.
  • Student must have plans to attend, on a full-time basis, any accredited institute of higher learning.


Mountain Home Kiwanis Club Scholarship

  • Due: April 14, 2017
  • Award: $500
  • To apply, complete the application that is found in the link above.  Application must be turned in with the following supporting documentation: proof of ACT/SAT scores, transcript, list of extra curricular activities and work experience, a letter of intent from applicant, and 2 letters of reference written by a non-family member.

Arkansas School Plant Management Association Scholarship

  • Due: April 1, 2017
  • Award: Multiple awards in increments ranging from $1,000-$5,000
  • Must have a GPA of 3.0 or better
  • Must have an ACT score of 19 or better
  • To apply, submit the completed application in the link above, an essay answering the question “What Receiving the ASPMA Scholarship Will Mean to Me”, and 2 letters of recommendation from an administrator, counselor and/or teacher of your current high school attesting to your character and expressing why you deserve to be considered for the scholarship.

Twin Lakes Playhouse Performing Arts Scholarship

  • Due: March 31, 2017
  • Award: $500-$1,000 depending on funds available
  • To apply, send the completed application (provided in the link above), your high school transcript, 2 letters of recommendation (non-family member written), a letter from a non-family member expressing your interest in the performing arts, a list of names and addresses of all higher education schools that you are interested in considering, or have already been accepted to, and a essay (please read the application for essay specs) that describes the following: your future educational plans, and influential factors affecting your decision to pursue an education in the performing arts, your theater participation, and your future career goal in the performing arts.  Applications and supporting documents can be sent to: Twin Lakes Playhouse, ATTN Scholarship Chairman, PO Box 482, Mountain Home, AR 72654.


Arthur J. & Blanch D. Raef Scholarship Fund

  • Due: March 31, 2017
  • The number and amount of scholarships awarded will be determined by the scholarship fund’s trustee.  
  • Recipients will be selected based on academic achievement, extracurricular achievements, and financial need.
  • Applications can be picked up from Mrs. Thornton, or Mrs. Ivens.


Arkansas Broadcasters Association Scholarship

  • Due: February 15, 2017
  • Award: Full tuition for the fall semester at Arkansas State University, and is renewable for the spring semester, contingent upon the recipient’s continued study in the A-State Media Department and satisfactory academic progress.
  • Must be a 2017 graduating senior
  • Must be preparing to enter ASU in the fall, and dedicated to a career in broadcasting.

ASUMH Scholarships- ASUMH scholarships have been updated, and are available by clicking here.  The ACADEMIC DISTINCTION scholarship will be due by June 30th.  The ASU GENERAL scholarship will be due by March 15th, but early applications WILL TAKE PRIORITY, so get these in as soon as possible.  If you need any help, or supporting documentation, please see Mrs. Thornton, or Mrs. Ivens.

Mountain Home Local Elks Scholarship Program

  • Due April 7, 2017 at 12:00 noon
  • Award: multiple awards of $1,000
  • Student must be enrolling in a full-time accredited college, university, trade or technical school program
  • Applications will be judged as follows:  Scholarship including ACT/SAT scores and GPA-50%, Activities and Honors-25%, Financial Need-25% 
  • Winners will be notified no later than Monday, May 8, 2017.



Baxter County Farm Bureau Scholarship

  • Due April 14, 2017
  • Award: $750
  • Parent or guardian MUST be a member of Baxter County Farm Bureau
  • Student MUST live in Baxter County
  • Student MUST be a 2017 graduate
  • Student MUST have an agri background, or be going into an agriculture field

The Gaylon Raney Memorial Scholarship

  • Due: April 21, 2017
  • Award: 2,000
  • Student must be a 2017 graduate
  • To apply, write an essay totaling 1,000 words or less describing why you should be chosen as the first recipient of this scholarship.

The following websites are a good tool to use to apply for scholarships.  Just visit each site and create an account.  Once you have created an account, you will fill out a form about your college and major interests.  The site will then match you with several scholarship opportunities.







Arkansas Chamber Singers Vocal/Choral Music Scholarship

  • Due December 16, 2016
  • Award” $1,000 for 1st place, $500 for 2nd place
  • Must have plans to attend a 4 year accredited institution of higher learning, with a major in music with emphasis in choral or vocal performance art.
  • Must be currently enrolled in choir during senior year
  • To apply, fill out this application.  Send the application, 3 SEALED letters of recommendation (one from your high school choral music teacher, one from another of your high school teachers, and one from a community leader), an official sealed high school transcript, and a minimum 300 word essay (not to exceed 325 words) detailing your desire to have a career in the field of music.  Mail these documents to Chair, Scholarship Committee, ACS Scholarship Program, PO Box 21002, Little Rock, AR 72221.

FRA Americanism Essay Scholarship

  • Due: December 1, 2016
  • Award: National grand prize is $5,000 with additional awards given for the top 3 essays.
  • To apply, fill out this cover sheet, and submit a 350 word essay with the theme “What Memorial Day Means To Me”.  For a list of complete rules, click here.

Burger King McLamore Foundation Scholarship

  • Due: Devember 15, 2016
  • Awards range from $1,000 to $50,000
  • Minimum GPA of 2.5 required for minimum scholarship.  Minimum GPA of 3.3 required for $50,000 Whopper Scholarship
  • No minimum ACT score for minimum scholarship.  Minimum ACT score of 25 required for $50,000 Whopper Scholarship.

  • Award: 6 awards will be given worth as much as $1,500 each

Arkansas Tech Foundation Scholarships

  • Award: Filling out the Tech Foundation application using the link above will automatically put you in for over 15 scholarships that are listed here.
  • Due date: All documentation needs to be turned in no later than February 28, 2017
  • In order to determine need, you must complete a FAFSA application using the college code 001089 so that the financial office has access to your FAFSA results.  
  • Complete documentation will include the application in the link above, a letter from you explaining the need for the scholarship, special family circumstances, and career goals; 3 letters of recommendation from high school counselor, principal, teacher, pastor, employer, or someone familiar with your work ethic and family situation.


AState License2HOWL Scholarship

  • Due December 2, 2016
  • Award: 5 awards of $5,000 per academic year ($2,500 per semester) provided income to the fund is sufficient.  
  • Must be a full time ASU – Jonesboro student 
  • Entering freshman must have a minimum ACT of 23, and a high school GPA of 3.5
  • Selection is based on demonstrated leadership in high school.
  • Special consideration is given to those students living on campus.
  • Scholarship may be renewed each year by maintaining a collegiate GPA of 3.25, remaining a full-time student in good standing, and submitting a short essay as directed by the Alumni Association in the fall of each year.

Andrew Flushe Scholarship

  • Due November 30, 2016
  • Award: $500
  • The scholarship is a contest to raise awareness about texting and driving.  Applicants must create a public service announcement video that addresses the severity of the problem.
  • Judging is based on creativity, and persuasiveness, as well as how informative it is.
  • Video can be no longer than 3 minutes.

Barbara Lotze Scholarships for Future Teachers

  • Due December 1, 2016
  • Award: 5 awards of $2,000 each
  • To be eligible, you must be a senior planning to pursue a career in teaching high school physics.

National Space Club Scholarship

  • Due December 2, 2016
  • Award: $10,000
  • Applicant must have the intention of pursuing a career in the STEM fields, and plan to attend an accredited US college or University to follow a course of study to pursue a career in the STEM field, with a preference for those with space related interests.
  • The award can only be used for tuition in the 2017-2018 academic year.

National Wood Flooring Association Education & Research Foundation Wood Studies Scholarship

  • Due February 1, 2017
  • Award: $1,000
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • ACT score of 25 or higher, or SAT score of 1800 or higher
  • Applicant must have plans of future study at a 4 year college or university in the field of forestry, environmental science, or natural resources.
  • Along with application, you must include a current transcript, proof of test scores, one letter of reccommendation from a teacher (sealed in an envelope with a signature on flap), proof of acceptance at a 4 year college in the fields listed above, a resume including extracurricular activities, awards, leadership, community service, and work experience.
  • Judging is based on resume, and 500-750 word essay (12pt type, double-spaced) on the following topic: “How does the study of forestry benefit the wood flooring industry?”

Sixt Scholars Scholarship

  • Due November 30, 2016
  • Award: 5 awards of $5,000
  • Must be planning to enroll in a 2 or 4 year college or university for the entire 2017-2018 academic year.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.7 required
  • Recipients are selected on the basis of academic record, demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities, honors, work experience, statement of goals and aspirations, unusual personal or family circumstances, and an outside appraisal.  Financial need as calculated by Scholarship of America must be demonstrated to receive an award.

VFW Voice of Democracy Scholarship

  • Due November 1, 2016
  • Grand Prize – $30,000
  • Open to students in grades 9-12
  • Judging is based on a recorded essay written in the theme “My Responsibility to America”.
  • To enter fill out application (provided in the link above), and record your 3-5 minute essay onto an audio CD or flash drive and submit it to a local VFW post by the November 1 deadline

Hagan Scholarship

  • Due November 30, 2016
  • Award is UP TO $5,000 each semester.  Winners will also be awarded with a $10,000 Schwab brokerage account in the fall semester of their sophomore year.  Recipients are also eligible for an $8,000 “study abroad” award after their sophomore year if they maintain a 3.5 GPA.
  • Must have attended junior and senior year of high school at an eligible high school.  For a full list of eligible high schools, click here.

  • Must have achieved an ACT score of 23 or higher.

Courage to Grow Scholarship

  • Due October 31, 2016

  • Must have a minimum GPA of 2.5

The Area Art Club Scholarship

  • Due March 1, 2017
  • Award is $1,000
  • Must be enrolling at an accredited university or art school as an art major.
  • Include a short summary of your personal interests, your art field of interest and your future goals.
  • List any awards that you have received during your school years.
  • There will be an interview process for those being considered, and you should bring the following: a portfolio of your best work done in and out of school, a copy of your grades, 2 letters of recommendation with 1 being a non-school reference.

National Co-Op Scholarship Program

  • Must be postmarked by February 15, 2017
  • Open to students that are applying to the following institutions:  Clarkson University, Drexel University, Merrimack University, Rochester Institute of Technology, State University of New York Oswego, The University of Toledo, University of Cincinnati, University of Massachusetts Lowell, Wentworth Institute of Technology
  • Minimum GPA of 3.5

Nancy Luelf Memorial Scholarship

  • Must be postmarked by March 17, 2017
  • Must be pursuing studies in fields which address the needs of children and youth.  (Examples can be found in the link above)
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Must be involved in community service
  • Must be a graduating senior this year
  • A letter of recommendation from a teacher, youth director, or employer is required.  CANNOT be from a family member.

The American Legion Department of Arkansas

  • Must be received at department headquarters on or before March 13, 2017
  • 4 awards of $1,000 from the Coudret Trust and 4 awards of $2,500 from the Garner Trust
  • Must be a child, grandchild, or great-grandchild of an American Legionnaire in good standing of 2 or more consecutive years of membership. (Step-Children of living legionnaires may apply if parent is still married to the legion member)
  • Applicant OR Legionnaire must be a resident of Arkansas
  • Must be attending a college, university, or technical/trade school in Arkansas
  • Must have one character reference in business letter format from an official of high school, one letter of endorsement from an American Legion Post Officer, and one letter of reference from an unrelated person belonging to none of the above.
  • Include a certified copy of transcript
  • Include 1 3x5 color photograph with written authorization to use it.  This will be for press releases.
  • On a separate sheet of paper, using essay format, provide a brief autobiography.  Be sure you describe your plan for achieving your educational and career goals; explain why you are the most qualified to receive this scholarship.

Got a Spine Scholarship

  • Due June 2, 2017
  • Must be attending a college or university full time no later than October 2017
  • Must have a minimum GPA of 2.5 during the last semester of your last academic year
  • 1 award of $500 and is based on 2 essays.  The first essay must be written in under 1,000 words and answer the following questions: 1)What are three common ways that people develop back problems? 2)What are three ways that you can ensure that you do not experience chronic back pain in the future? 3)What are three methods chiropractors use when treating back pain?  The second essay must be written in under 250 words and answer the following question: Why do you feel that you deserve the scholarship?

The American Legion Scholarship

  • Due by December 31, 2016
  • This scholarship is based on placing in a department level contest in order to gain knowledge and appreciation of the Constitution of the United States.  Other qualities that will be judged are leadership, the ability to speak clearly and intelligently, and the acceptance of the rights and privileges of American Citizenship.
  • Awards: $2,000 for 1st Place, $1,500 for 2nd place, and $1,000 for 3rd place
  • The winner of the department level contest will compete at the national level.  This student will receive an additional $1,500 scholarship for competing in the national competition.  The awards for the national competition are as follows: 1st place $18,000, 2nd place $16,000, 3rd place $14,000.

You Deserve It Scholarship

  • Due September 29, 2016
  • You must be a resident of one of the 50 states, District of Columbia, or US Territories to apply
  • Must be 16 or older
  • Award: $1,000

Review It Scholarship

  • Due September 30, 2016
  • Must be attending a US college or university no later than September of 2017
  • Minimum GPA of 2.5
  • Award: $1,000

Scholastic Art and Writing Awards

  • Due September 30, 2016
  • You may apply for this scholarship with art, or with an essay.  For full list of categories, click here.
  • Essays will be judged blindly (without the knowledge of the artist/writer’s identity)
  • Judging criteria: originality, technical skill, emergence of personal voice.
  • Award: 75 available at $10,000 each

Odenza Caption Scholarship

  • Due November 30, 2016
  • Must be attending a college or university in the Fall of 2017
  • Must have a minimum GPA of 2.5
  • Must be a US resident
  • To apply, submit a caption in the comment section of any post in the Odenza Facebook page, prior to the November 30th deadline.  Add #OdenzaCaption to the and of your comment. A caption consists of a title or brief explanation to any photo or post on Odenza’s Facebook page.
  • The post to receive the most likes 6 weeks after the deadline will be considered the winner.
  • Award: $500

10 Words or Less Scholarship

  • Due December 1, 2016
  • Must be attending a college or university in the Fall of 2017
  • To apply, go to  Underneath the post that is giving information about the “10 Words or Less Scholarship”, comment your answer to the following:  In 10 words or less, tell us why you deserve the $500 scholarship.
  • Make sure that you “like” the Facebook page, as consideration is based on the applicants who have done this.
  • Award: $500

Points Scholarship

  • Due December 15, 2016
  • Must be a US resident enrolling in a US college or university
  • Apply by filling out online form, and earning points to exchange for scholarships by daily internet activity. 
  • Award: $10,000

Elks USA Most Valuable Student Scholarship

  • Due November 30, 2016
  • Must be a currently enrolled high school senior
  • Must be a citizen of the United States on the date that your application is submitted
  • You must take the ACT or SAT by November 5, 2016
  • Recipients will be selected considering their leadership qualities, academic achievements and records, community involvement and financial need.
  • Must be pursuing a 4 year degree on a full time basis.  (12 credit hours per semester)
  • Awards vary, ranging from $1,000-$12,500 per year

US Senate Youth Scholarship

  • Must be postmarked no later than October 7th, 2016
  • Must be a permanent resident of the United States
  • Must be a currently enrolled high school senior
  • Must be currently serving in an elected or selected capacity in one of the following government, civic, or educational organizations: student body president, vice-president, or treasurer, student council representative, or a student elected or appointed to a district, regional, or state-level civic and/or educational organization approved by the state administrator.

QuestBridge Scholarship

  • Due by September 27, 2016
  • Primarily A’s in the most challenging courses available (usually Honors, and AP classes)
  • Preferable to be in the top 5-10% of your class
  • SAT (CR+M) Scores > 1240
  • ACT Composite Score > 28
  • Preferable to those having strong writing ability, intellectual spark, and determination through essays and teacher/counselor recommendations.
  • Financial qualifications include a household income of less than $65,000 annually for a family of four.  this is not a strict cutoff, and application is strongly encouraged regardless.

Wendy’s High School Heisman

  • Due October 3, 2016
  • Must have a GPA of 3.0 or above
  • Must be a proven leader and positive role model within school and community
  • Must be involved in at least 1 sport
  • Apply using the link above
  • Awards vary and range between $1,000 and $10,000


AES Engineering Services Scholarship

  • Due October 6, 2016
  • Scholarship will be awarded based on character, determined by an evaluation of the essays that are submitted.
  • The scholarship is available to any high school senior who is seeking a post secondary education.  You do not need to be taking engineering classes to qualify.
  • To apply, submit an essay of between 500-1000 words answering the following question:

When you look back on your life in 30 years, what would it take for you to consider your life successful?  What relationships or accomplishments will be important on this journey?

Baxter County Fair Association Scholarship

  • Due by 12:00 PM, September 14, 2016 –  Submit to fair office at 1507 Fairgrounds Dr, Mountain Home.
  • Must have exhibited in the fair at least 1 year
  • Must be attending college or vocational school after high school
  • Must take a minimum of 12 credit hours per semester.

 Horatio Alger Scholarship

  • Due by October 25, 2016
  • Must be currently enrolled as a full time high school senior, with plans to enter a college in the United States no later than the fall following graduation.
  • Must exhibit a strong commitment to pursue and complete a bachelor’s degree at an accredited non-profit public or private institution in the United States.
  • Demonstrate financial need ($55,000 or lower adjusted gross family income)
  • Be involved in co-curricular and community service activities
  • Display integrity and perseverance in overcoming adversity
  • Minimum GPA of 2.0
  • Must be a US citizen
