American Red Cross Scholarship

  • Due: April 30, 2019
  • Award: $250
  • Must be a blood drive participant
  • Must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • To apply, complete the application in the link above and submit along with your transcript, one letter of recommendation from a teacher, counselor or community member, and a 350 word (do not exceed 350 words)  essay describing why you are qualified to receive this scholarship and the importance of community service.
  • Applications need to be turned in to Mrs. Manns NO LATER than Tuesday, April 30, 2019.

United Daughters of the Confederacy

  • Due: May 1, 2019
  • Award: Varies
  • To apply, complete the application in the link above (unfortunately I am not able to make this application writable, so you must hand write it) and return with all supporting documents IN THE ORDER LISTED ON THE APPLICATION
  • Supporting documents include: wallet sized photograph of head and shoulders, application checklist, copy of confederate ancestor’s service record, letter of recommendation from a recent teacher or counselor on school letterhead, transcript, a letter from you not to exceed 300 words 1) pledging to make the best possible use of the opportunity offered by this scholarship 2)outlining your goals and plans/preparation for meeting these goals, and 3) explaining what receiving this scholarship would mean to you.  If your letter does not include this information, it will be considered incomplete.

North Arkansas Youth Center Scholarship

  • Due: April 15, 2019
  • Award: $500 to 1 boy, $500 to 1 girl
  • To apply, complete an essay on the following topic: White Herzog used his fame in sports to make a difference in the lives of many, including the youth who attend the North Arkansas Youth Center.  How have you used sports to enhance the lives of others?  How will you continue to use sports to help others?
  • Essays can be turned in to Ms. Alkire to be forwarded

North Central Board of Realtors Scholarship

  • Due: April 11, 2019 (applications received after this date will not be considered)
  • Award: Varies
  • Application must include 1 letter of recommendation from a special teacher or counselor.
  • Include a copy of your transcript and test scores
  • Must complete an essay (300 words or less) explaining your university choice and describing your career goals.

North Arkansas Electric Trust/Operation Round Up Scholarship

  • Due: April 12, 2019
  • Award: Varies
  • Parents must be a member of the North Arkansas Electric Co-Op (must have NAEC as their electric provider)
  • Must have a high school GPA of at least 3.0 through the first semester of senior year
  • Selection is based on scholastic achievement, school involvement, community involvement and financial need.
  • Application must include a copy of your transcript and 3 letters of recommendation from teachers, counselors, employers, or community leaders.

Adeline Lynn Hais Dvorak/Clarence C. Dvorak Scholarships

  • Due: April 12, 2019
  • Award: $1,000
  • The Adeline Lynne Hais Dvorak scholarship is for students with German heritage and the Clarence C. Dvorak scholarship is for students with Czech heritage.
  • Application must include an official transcript and test scores
  • Must include a letter written and signed by you providing information about yourself and your need for this scholarship
  • Must include 2 character reference letters from non-family members

Baxter County Cattlemen’s Association Scholarship

  • Due: April 12, 2019
  • Award: $500
  • Must be a Baxter County resident planning on a career in the cattle industry.
  • Award selections are based on: character, career plans, leadership potential, community involvement, agriculture involvement, financial need, and academic achievement.  Preference may be given to ACA members.

Twin Lakes Playhouse Scholarship

  • Due: March 31, 2019
  • Award: Varies ($500-$1,000)
  • Must be planning to pursue a major in performing arts at an accredited school of higher education.
  • To apply, complete the application in the link above, and submit along with your high school (and college if applicable) transcript, 2 letters of recommendation from non-family members, the full name and address of all higher education schools that you are applying to, and a document (not to exceed 500 words) describing the following: your future educational and possible career plans, past theater participation, the area of performing arts in which you are interested, and how you are supplementing your income to cover the expenses of school.

Friends of the Baxter County Library Scholarship

  • Due: April 1, 2019
  • Award: Varies
  • Must include a cover letter including a summary of your achievements and your academic and career goals.
  • Must include an academic resume.
  • Must include an essay (1200-2000 words) written about the required topic, “Discuss the pros and cons of standardized testing as used in grades K-12.”  Essay must be written in MLA format, and include a bibliography with a minimum of 5 sources.  Must also be free of identifying information.

Arkansas Propane Gas Association, Inc. Memorial Scholarship

  • Due: May 1, 2019
  • Award: Varies
  • Must be the dependent an employee or owner of a business in the propane industry.
  • Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Must have participated in extracurricular activities in high school
  • Must be of good moral character in the sole judgement of the selection committee
  • To apply, complete the application in the link above, and submit, along with your high school transcript, and a personal statement requesting the scholarship stating the following: background information, financial need, participation in extracurricular activities, unusual hardships, future goals, and any other information that you think the selection committee needs to know.

Mountain Home Kiwanis Club Scholarship

  • Due: April 5, 2019
  • Award: 6 scholarships of $1,000 are available
  • Include a copy of your transcript and test scores with application.
  • Application (included in the link above)  must include your academic resume (list of extra-curricular activities, work experience, etc.) and a letter of intent from you.
  • You must obtain 2 letters of recommendation from non-family members to be included with your application.

BRMC Employee and Grandchildren Scholarship

  • Due: March 15, 2019
  • Award: Varies
  • Applicant must be a child or grandchild of a BRMC employee, in good standing for a minimum of 1 year.
  • You must submit the application (found in the link above) along with an essay discussing why you should receive this scholarship. The essay should outline your career goals and financial needs, and it should express your desire to achieve and succeed.
  • You must also include a letter of recommendation from a non family member

Arkansas School Plant Management Scholarship

  • Due: April 1, 2019
  • Award: Multiple awards varying in increments from $1,000-$5,000
  • Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and a minimum ACT of 19
  • Any graduating senior who is planning on attending a College/University, Vocational-Technical or Trade school is eligible to apply.
  • Must include 2 letters of recommendation from a school administrator, counselor, and/or teacher.
  • Application (included in the link above) must include an essay on “What Receiving the ASPMA Scholarship Will Mean to Me”.

The Rotary Club of Mountain Home Scholarship

  • Due: April 1, 2019
  • Award: Varies
  • Award is based on need, academic achievement, community involvement, and future leadership potential.
  • Application (included in the link above) must be accompanied by a copy of your transcript, prrof of admission (if available) to the college you will attend, and a personal letter of intent.

  • Due: April 15, 2019
  • Award: Varies
  • Application must include a minimum of THREE reference letters from non-family members such as a counselor, teacher, pastor, or employer

Play 4 Jarren Foundation Celebration of Life Scholarship

  • Due: April 1, 2019
  • Award: $1,000
  • Scholarship will be awarded to an individual who’s life has been affected by childhood cancer, either themselves or via a family member.

Marvin Newton Classic Scholarship

  • Due: March 15, 2019
  • Award: $500
  • Must have participated in the Marvin Newton Basketball Classic to apply
  • Must have a minimum GPA of 2.75
  • You must obtain 2 letters of recommendation attesting to your character.  These letters must be from someone that you have known for at least 3 years, and must be submitted in sealed envelopes.
  • Financial need will be considered.

National Wood Flooring Association Scholarship

  • Due: February 1, 2019
  • Award: $1,000
  • Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Must have a minimum ACT score of 25
  • Must be planning on attending a four-year college/university and planning on a course of study in the field of forestry, environmental science, natural resources.
  • To apply, complete the application in the link above and complete a 500-750-word essay (12 pt. font and double spaced) on the following topic: “How does the study of forestry benefit the wood flooring industry?”

National School Plant Management Association Scholarship

  • Due: February 1, 2019
  • Award: Multiple awards ranging from $500-$1,500 (total number of awards is based on the scholarship trust funds)
  • Selection criteria are: Financial need, academic achievement, co-curricular participation, community service, and essay response
  • To apply, complete the application found in the link above, and complete an essay in the space provided (you may attach the essay on an additional piece of paper if preferred, just make sure to note that on your application) on “How a clean, well maintained, and safe school environment makes a difference in a student’s education”.  Your essay must be a minimum of 300 words.  You must also include a copy of your high school transcript, and college transcript (if applicable).  Your transcripts MUST include your Fall 2018 grades.

GE-Reagan Foundation Scholarship

  • Due: January 4, 2019
  • Award: varies, up to $40,000
  • Must demonstrate the attributes of leadership at work, school, and within the community.
  • Must have a minimum GPA of .0
  • Must be planning to enroll full time in an accredited 4-year college or university in the US beginning in the Fall of 2019.
  • If you are chosen as a semifinalist for the scholarship, you will be required to submit a recommendation from a community leader such as your principal, an elected city or county official, or a director of a nonprofit organization, so you should be preparing for that as you are initially applying for this scholarship.

The Redfin Scholarship

  • Due: January 31, 2019 and July 31, 2019 (scholarship is awarded twice per year)
  • Award: $2,500
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Must be planning on attending an accredited college or university
  • Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5

Earl Collins Foundation Kiwanis Scholarship

  • Due: Application is due to Kiwanis Club January 15, 2018, application and supporting documentation needs to be turned in to Ms. Alkire NO LATER than Monday, January 14th.
  • Award: $1,000
  • Must have a minimum GPA of 3.25 and a minimum ACT of 23
  • Applicants with parental adjusted gross income of less than $50,000 per year will be given priority.
  • Must submit 2 letters of recommendation from high school teachers who are familiar with your academic performance and college plans.
  • Must submit an evidence of motivation listing your extracurricular activities such as: leadership, community services, class offices, church activities, key club activities, and any honors received.
  • Must submit a statement, not to exceed 1 page in length, of your educational plans and goals.

Arkansas Sports Hall of Fame Scholarship

  • Due: December 31, 2018
  • Award: 9 awards of $1,000 will be given – 5 to males and 4 to females
  • Must be a graduating senior of a AAA sanctioned high school
  • Must be planning on attending an Arkansas college in the Fall of 2019
  • To apply, complete an essay (no longer than ONE typewritten page, single spaced) on how participating in high school sports has made a positive impact on your life.
  • At the top of the essay page, the following information MUST be provided, or the essay will not be considered: full name and address, gender, phone number, parent/guardian phone number, student and parent email address, name of the Arkansas college that you plan on attending.

FRA Americanism Essay Contest

  • Due: December 1, 2018
  • Award: National award of $5,000 with grade level awards for 1st -3rd place winners.  1st: $2,500, 2nd $1,500, 3rd $1,000
  • To apply, submit an essay of 350 words or less on “What Freedom of Speech Means to You”
  • Essay must be submitted with the essay cover sheet that can be found in the link above.  
  • You must type your essay, and it must have a title at the top of the paper

Arkansas Chamber Singers Vocal/Choral Music Scholarship

  • Due: December 14, 2018
  • Award: 1st Place – $1,000 and 2nd Place – $500
  • Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Must be planning on a major in music with an emphasis in choral or vocal performance
  • To apply, complete the application found in the link above and submit along with 3 SEALED letters of recommendation (1 from your choir teacher, 1 from another teacher, and 1 from a community leader), a 300 word essay detailing your desire to have a career in the field of music, and an official, sealed transcript
  • All applicants are required to attend an audition and interview on Sunday, January 27th at 3:00 P.M. at St. James United Methodist Church, located at 321 Pleasant Valley Road in Little Rock.

  • Due: December 15, 2018
  • Award: Scholarships range from $1,000 to $50,000 
  • Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5
  • Must be a Burger King employee, spouse, or child of an employee
  • Must be planning on attending an accredited 2 or 4-year university, college, or vocational-technical school

Area Art Club Scholarship

  • Due: March 15, 2018
  • Award: $1,000
  • Must be planning on attending an accredited university or art school with an emphasis in art
  • To apply, fill out the application in the link above and submit along with the following: a short summary of your personal interests, your art field of interest, and your future goals for continued study or employment, and a list of any awards that you have received during your school years.
  • If you are invited for an interview, you must bring a portfolio of your best work done in or out of school, a copy of your grades, and two letters of recommendation (one of these letters must be from a non-school source (employer, pastor, etc.).

VFW Voice of Democracy Scholarship

  • Due: October 31, 2018
  • Award: Several awards given at state and local level with a national level scholarship worth $30,000.
  • To enter, complete the application in the link above and record a 3-5 minute essay onto a CD or flash drive. The essay’s theme should be “Why My Vote Matters”.  The essay must not identify you in any way (no name, school, city, race, etc.).  Be sure to label your typed essay and CD or flash drive with your name to show ownership.  
  • All essays should be turned in to the local VFW.  You may bring your application. typed essay and recording to Ms. Alkire and she will get it to the post.

Nancy Luelf Memorial Junior Auxiliary Scholarship

  • Due: March 15, 2019
  • Award: Varies
  • Must be pursuing studies in a field that addresses the needs of children and youth.  (education, psychology, mental health, speech pathology, etc.)
  • Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Must show financial need
  • Application must be accompanied by a letter of recommendation from a teacher, youth director, employer, or another non family member
  • Must be involved in community service
  • Include a photo of yourself with application for publication purposes
  • Must be a resident of Baxter County

American Legion Coudret Trust and Garner Trust Scholarships

  • Due: March 12, 2019
  • Award: 8 scholarships will be awarded will be awarded.  4 in the amount of $1,000 and 4 in the amount of $2,500
  • Must be a child, grandchild, or great-grandchild of an American Legionnaire
  • Must provide one character reference letter from a school official, a letter of endorsement from an American Legion Post Officer, and a letter of recommendation from an non family member.
  • Include a copy of your transcript and ACT or SAT scores with the application.
  • Include 3X5 color photograph with the application with written authorization to use it.
  • Include a brief autobiography in essay format describing your plans for achieving your educational and career goals and what led you into this career pathway. Explain your experiences and activities that were helpful in developing your leadership skills and justify why you are the most qualified to receive this scholarship.

 

The Horatio Alger Association Scholarship

  • Due: October 25, 2018
  • Award: several scholarships are awarded ranging from $6,000 to $25,000
  • Must plan on enrolling in college in the fall of 2019
  • Must have a minimum GPA of 2.0
  • Must show financial need ($55,000 or lower adjusted gross income)
  • Must be involved in in co-curricular and community service activities

 

Elks National Foundation Most Valuable Scholarship

  • Due: November 15, 2018
  • Award: 500 four-year awards scholarships will be given ranging from $4,000 to $50,000
  • Application will be judged on scholarship, leadership and financial need

The Coca-Cola Scholarship Program Scholarship

  • Due: October 31, 2018
  • Award: 150 scholarships worth $20,000
  • Cannot be a child or grandchild of a Coca-Cola employee
  • Before applying, gather: your transcript, a list of school and non-school related clubs and originations, a list of honors and awards, a list of volunteer organizations, a list of employment history

  • Award: $1,000 ($500 per semester for your first year)
  • Must be a resident of Baxter County
