Seniors, don’t forget to let Ms. Alkire know when you are awarded a scholarship so that she can get your name and scholarship amount added to the class total.

 

MOST OF THE SCHOLARSHIPS LISTED ARE IN A WRITABLE PDF FORMAT.  PLEASE UTILIZE THIS BY TYPING YOUR APPLICATIONS AND PRINTING THEM.

National Wood Flooring Association Scholarship

  • Due: February 1, 2019
  • Award: $1,000
  • Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Must have a minimum ACT score of 25
  • Must be planning on attending a four-year college/university and planning on a course of study in the field of forestry, environmental science, natural resources.
  • To apply, complete the application in the link above and complete a 500-750-word essay (12 pt. font and double spaced) on the following topic: “How does the study of forestry benefit the wood flooring industry?”
  • Mail application, essay, transcript, proof of ACT score, proof of acceptance into a four-year college/university, and your academic resume to: National Wood Flooring Association, Education and Research Foundation, Wood Studies Scholarship, 111 Chesterfield Industrial Blvd., Chesterfield, MO 63005.

National School Plant Management Association Scholarship

  • Due: February 1, 2019
  • Award: Multiple awards ranging from $500-$1,500 (total number of awards is based on the scholarship trust funds)
  • Selection criteria are: Financial need, academic achievement, co-curricular participation, community service, and essay response
  • To apply, complete the application found in the link above, and complete an essay in the space provided (you may attach the essay on an additional piece of paper if preferred, just make sure to note that on your application) on “How a clean, well maintained, and safe school environment makes a difference in a student’s education”.  Your essay must be a minimum of 300 words.  You must also include a copy of your high school transcript, and college transcript (if applicable).  Your transcripts MUST include your Fall 2018 grades. 
  • Completed application and supporting documents should be mailed to: NSPMA 2019 Scholarship Program, c/o Allen Nordt, Scholarship Chairperson, 11 Lord Lane, Swainton, NJ 08210

 

GE-Reagan Foundation Scholarship

  • Due: January 4, 2019
  • Award: varies, up to $40,000
  • Must demonstrate the attributes of leadership at work, school, and within the community.
  • Must have a minimum GPA of .0
  • Must be planning to enroll full time in an accredited 4-year college or university in the US beginning in the Fall of 2019.
  • If you are chosen as a semifinalist for the scholarship, you will be required to submit a recommendation from a community leader such as your principal, an elected city or county official, or a director of a nonprofit organization, so you should be preparing for that as you are initially applying for this scholarship.
  • To apply, click on the link above and create an account on the website.  The application can be found once you have registered.

 

The Redfin Scholarship

  • Due: January 31, 2019 and July 31, 2019 (scholarship is awarded twice per year)
  • Award: $2,500
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Must be planning on attending an accredited college or university
  • Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5

Earl Collins Foundation Kiwanis Scholarship

  • Due: Application is due to Kiwanis Club January 15, 2018, application and supporting documentation needs to be turned in to Ms. Alkire NO LATER than Monday, January 14th.
  • Award: $1,000
  • Must have a minimum GPA of 3.25 and a minimum ACT of 23
  • Applicants with parental adjusted gross income of less than $50,000 per year will be given priority.
  • Must submit 2 letters of recommendation from high school teachers who are familiar with your academic performance and college plans.
  • Must submit an evidence of motivation listing your extracurricular activities such as: leadership, community services, class offices, church activities, key club activities, and any honors received.
  • Must submit a statement, not to exceed 1 page in length, of your educational plans and goals.
  • To apply, submit the above information, along with the completed application (found in the link above), a copy of your transcript, and a copy of your ACT scores to Ms. Alkire NO LATER than Monday, January 14, 2018.

Arkansas Sports Hall of Fame Scholarship

  • Due: December 31, 2018
  • Award: 9 awards of $1,000 will be given – 5 to males and 4 to females
  • Must be a graduating senior of a AAA sanctioned high school
  • Must be planning on attending an Arkansas college in the Fall of 2019
  • To apply, complete an essay (no longer than ONE typewritten page, single spaced) on how participating in high school sports has made a positive impact on your life.
  • At the top of the essay page, the following information MUST be provided, or the essay will not be considered: full name and address, gender, phone number, parent/guardian phone number, student and parent email address, name of the Arkansas college that you plan on attending.
  • Essay can be mailed (postmarked by December 31, 2018) to Arkansas Sports Hall of Fame, #3 Verizon Arena Way, Little Rock, AR 72114, or emailed to tcjohnson@arksportshalloffame.org.

FRA Americanism Essay Contest

  • Due: December 1, 2018
  • Award: National award of $5,000 with grade level awards for 1st -3rd place winners.  1st: $2,500, 2nd $1,500, 3rd $1,000
  • To apply, submit an essay of 350 words or less on “What Freedom of Speech Means to You”
  • Essay must be submitted with the essay cover sheet that can be found in the link above.  
  • You must type your essay, and it must have a title at the top of the paper

  • Essay and cover sheet should be mailed to the address that is found on the cover sheet

 

Arkansas Chamber SIngers Vocal/Choral Music Scholarship

  • Due: December 14, 2018
  • Award: 1st Place – $1,000 and 2nd Place – $500
  • Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Must be planning on a major in music with an emphasis in choral or vocal performance
  • To apply, complete the application found in the link above and submit along with 3 SEALED letters of recomendation (1 from your choir teacher, 1 from another teacher, and 1 from a community leader), a 300 word essay detailing your desire to have a career in the field of music, and an official, sealed transcript
  • All applicants are required to attend an audition and interview on Sunday, January 27th at 3:00 P.M. at St. James United Methodist Church, located at 321 Pleasant Valley Road in Little Rock.

  • Due: November 30th
  • Award: $5,000
  • Must be planning on enrolling full time at an accredited two or four-year college
  • Must have a minimum GPA of 3.7

Burger King McLamore Foundation Scholarship

  • Due: December 15, 2018
  • Award: Scholarships range from $1,000 to $50,000 
  • Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5
  • Must be a Burger King employee, spouse, or child of an employee
  • Must be planning on attending an accredited 2 or 4-year university, college, or vocational-technical school

Area Art Club Scholarship

  • Due: March 15, 2018
  • Award: $1,000
  • Must be planning on attending an accredited university or art school with an emphasis in art
  • To apply, fill out the application in the link above and submit along with the following: a short summary of your personal interests, your art field of interest, and your future goals for continued study or employment, and a list of any awards that you have received during your school years.
  • If you are invited for an interview, you must bring a portfolio of your best work done in or out of school, a copy of your grades, and two letters of recommendation (one of these letters must be from a non-school source (employer, pastor, etc.).

VFW Voice of Democracy Scholarship

  • Due: October 31, 2018
  • Award: Several awards given at state and local level with a national level scholarship worth $30,000.
  • To enter, complete the application in the link above and record a 3-5 minute essay onto a CD or flash drive. The essay’s theme should be “Why My Vote Matters”.  The essay must not identify you in any way (no name, school, city, race, etc.).  Be sure to label your typed essay and CD or flash drive with your name to show ownership.  
  • All essays should be turned in to the local VFW.  You may bring your application. typed essay and recording to Ms. Alkire and she will get it to the post.

Nancy Luelf Memorial Junior Auxiliary Scholarship

  • Due: March 15, 2019
  • Award: Varies
  • Must be pursuing studies in a field that addresses the needs of children and youth.  (education, psychology, mental health, speech pathology, etc.)
  • Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Must show financial need
  • Application must be accompanied by a letter of recommendation from a teacher, youth director, employer, or another non family member
  • Must be involved in community service
  • Include a photo of yourself with application for publication purposes
  • Must be a resident of Baxter County
  • Mail completed application, photo and letter of recommendation to: Junior Auxiliary of Mountain Home, ATTN: Scholarship Committee, PO Box 267, Mountain Home, AR 72654-0267


 

American Legion Coudret Trust and Garner Trust Scholarships

  • Due: March 12, 2019
  • Award: 8 scholarships will be awarded will be awarded.  4 in the amount of $1,000 and 4 in the amount of $2,500
  • Must be a child, grandchild, or great-grandchild of an American Legionnaire
  • Must provide one character reference letter from a school official, a letter of endorsement from an American Legion Post Officer, and a letter of recommendation from an non family member.
  • Include a copy of your transcript and ACT or SAT scores with the application.
  • Include 3X5 color photograph with the application with written authorization to use it.
  • Include a brief autobiography in essay format describing your plans for achieving your educational and career goals and what led you into this career pathway. Explain your experiences and activites that were helpful in developing your leadership skills and justify why you are the most qualified to receive this scholarship.

 

The Horatio Alger Association Scholarship

  • Due: October 25, 2018
  • Award: several scholarships are awarded ranging from $6,000 to $25,000
  • Must plan on enrolling in college in the fall of 2019
  • Must have a minimum GPA of 2.0
  • Must show financial need ($55,000 or lower adjusted gross income)
  • Must be involved in in co-curricular and community service activities

 

Elks National Foundation Most Valuable Scholarship

  • Due: November 15, 2018
  • Award: 500 four-year awards scholarships will be given ranging from $4,000 to $50,000
  • Application will be judged on scholarship, leadership and financial need
  • The application and more information can be found at the website in the link above

 

The Coca-Cola Scholarship Program Scholarship

  • Due: October 31, 2018
  • Award: 150 scholarships worth $20,000
  • Cannot be a child or grandchild of a Coca-Cola employee
  • Before applying, gather: your transcript, a list of school and non-school related clubs and originations, a list of honors and awards, a list of volunteer organizations, a list of employment history

Baxter County Fair Association Scholarship

  • Due: NOON, Wednesday, September 12, 2018
  • Award: $1,000 ($500 per semester for your first year)
  • Must be a resident of Baxter County
  • Application MUST be COMPLETE and signed by both applicant and guardian
  • Please send application and current transcript to: Baxter County Fair Office, 1507 Fairgrounds Dr., Mountain Home, AR 72653. (Ms. Alkire can mail this for you if you would like)
