Academics

Cotter Public Schools is the sole public school in the Cotter School District. The teacher-student ratio is approximately 10:1, serving the cities of Cotter and Gassville in Arkansas. The main focus at Cotter Public Schools is our students and their families. We are constantly striving to meet the needs of the whole child as well as their academic needs. By providing extra support through these programs, we hope to ensure the success of all students. We are committed to the provision of a challenging college prep program within a structure of support and acceptance, where student voice is valued and diversity is celebrated. Cotter Public Schools follows the Smart Core curriculum developed by the Arkansas Department of Education (ADE), which requires students to complete 22 units prior to graduation. Students complete regular and Advanced Placement (AP) coursework and exams. Academic courses are taught at the honors/Advanced Placement level.

Cotter Public Schools offers many unique advanced courses to prepare the student for post-graduate studies and life experiences. The school strives to demonstrate a commitment to maximizing individual potential, including emotional and physical well-being through hard work and personal responsibility.

We offer an after school tutoring program for grades 1-12. In the elementary program, students who need extra time for learning skills are provided with individualized instruction in a small group setting. The Junior High and High School programs targets students that need a small group setting for learning and those who need internet access. Tutored students are provided a snack as well as transportation. All students at Cotter Public Schools are eligible for breakfast and lunch at NO CHARGE regardless of income. This is made possible through the United States Department of Agriculture Special Assistance Certification and Reimbursement Community Eligibility Provision.

According to a recent study, Cotter Public School students perform above average on state tests, have great college-readiness measures, and has above average results in how well it’s serving disadvantaged students.
