Cotter Public Schools provides each student with access to the best technology in all grades. With our students having access to a computer and other computer-aided systems, much of the day-to-day learning is performed with the aid of technology. Students need to be able to safely navigate the internet while on their computers. Our IT staff is constantly in communication with our administrators and teachers regarding technological advancements in order to keep our school, staff, and students on the cutting edge of an advancing educational system in a computer-safe environment. The Technology Department is responsible for the acquisition, distribution, and maintenance of hardware and network resources. They implement the Technology Plan for the District and provide support for every technology resource. The Technology Department believes in empowering teachers by providing them with a wide variety of teaching tools and resources. Our teachers are certified professionals and use eLearning and textbook resources as tools to teach curriculum based on the Arkansas Standards of Learning.
Today’s students are dependent upon the use of technology in their daily lives, and their future careers will depend on them knowing how to efficiently and properly use technology. Cotter Public Schools provide opportunities for all teachers and staff to participate in professional days that include advancing knowledge in the area of technology. The district provides opportunities for teachers to attend conferences that incorporate technology into their sessions.
Research supports conclusions that the use of technology, incorporating visual and collaborative teaching practices, promotes student learning. Students now have a direct pathway to rich, diverse and current information that was never before available in the classroom. The initiative gives students and teachers access to content-rich lesson plans developed by our administrators, teachers and specialists.
